Range History

The Wednesbury Marksmen club was founded in 1982 by John Scoltock. The Wednesbury range was built in 1982 as a purpose built shooting range in the heart of Wednesbury. The building was home to the Wednesbury Marksmen club and JLS arms importers and shop.  The shop and club changed hands in 1994, when Roger took over. In 1997 the range diversified to provide facilities for Air rifle, Archery, and cross bow shooting. The range was further bought in 2020 by Becky and continues to be a shooting centre providing range facilities to a host of disciplines. The range offers a 25-metre shooting range, clubroom, kitchen facilities, storage facilities, and a well-stocked shop

The club has a varied membership with members taking part in archery, air rifle and pistol shooting, and firearms.  The club takes part in the Midlands shooting league and generally enters a couple of teams each season.  The club is affiliated with the NRA, which enables our members to take part in small bore, and full bore pistol and rifle shooting as well as gallery shot gun.  The club runs trips throughout the year to outdoor ranges, which enables members to shoot up to 1000 meters.  Many of our members also take part in archery and clay pigeon shooing on other outdoor ranges around the UK.  The club uses the range three times a week for specific activities.  Wednesday evening is used for members and guests to take part in shooting the Police Pistol 1 (PP1) discipline.   Thursday’s are used for the clubs probationary members night.  This night is reserved for prospective members to take part in shooting, learn range safety, and meet club members.  Finally Saturday morning is reserved for other disciplines.  These include Police Pistol 2 (PP2), Service A and Service B.
